New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has revealed the jersey design for the upcoming 2023 World Cup, set to commence on October 5.

The announcement was made through the Black Caps' official social media channels, featuring fast bowlers Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson, along with wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham showcasing the fresh attire.

As customary, the jersey's primary colour remains black, with the prominent inscription 'NEW ZEALAND' positioned in the center. The emblem for the 2023 World Cup is situated on the far right, while the silver fern emblem adorns the left side.

New Zealand, led by Kane Williamson, will kick off the prestigious tournament with the opening match against defending champions England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Black Caps reached the final of the 2019 World Cup at Lord's, experiencing an unfortunate defeat to England. Their journey to the final also included a runner-up finish in the 2015 edition when Australia defeated them by 7 wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to secure their fifth title.

In preparation for the 2023 World Cup, New Zealand had already unveiled their 15-man provisional squad. However, the veteran seam bowler, Tim Southee, sustained a right thumb injury while attempting to take a catch during the fourth ODI against England at Lord's.

Addressing Southee's injury, head coach Gary Stead mentioned in a video shared on the Black Caps' social media account that it is too early to make a decision. He emphasised the importance of understanding the recovery timeline before making any determinations regarding Southee's availability for the World Cup.

The 2019 World Cup runners-up received a significant boost with the return of Kane Williamson, who was uncertain for the tournament due to a knee injury. Williamson and his team are scheduled to play warm-up matches against Pakistan on September 29 and against South Africa on October 2.
